Czernica [t͡ʂɛrˈnit͡sa] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Gaszowice, within Rybnik County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland.
[1] It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) south-west of Gaszowice, 11 km (7 mi) west of Rybnik, and 47 km (29 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice.
The village is the birthplace of the composer Henryk Górecki.
Czernica was first mentioned in a document of 17 March 1317.
