They started in the Central Northants Combination where they had success with both the 1st and 2nd teams, in those years they had to hire council pitches.
Daventry United had reached the Third Round of the FA Vase twice in their history and after many years of hard work and recruiting better players they made it into the Premier Division in 1996.
