David V. Herlihy (born July 30, 1958) is an author and historian.
He is notable for writing Bicycle: The History,[1] published by Yale University Press, and Lost Cyclist: The Epic Tale of an American Adventurer and His Mysterious Disappearance.
[2][3] He has also presented at the International Cycling History Conference and has published an opinion piece on cycling in The New York Times.
[5] He is the son of noted historians David Herlihy and Patricia Herlihy.
[6] Herlihy presented evidence at the fourth International Cycling History Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, Oct. 11–16, 1993, that Pierre Lallement deserves credit for putting pedals on the dandy horse.
