Drynarioideae is a subfamily of the fern family Polypodiaceae in the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I).
[1] The subfamily is also treated as the tribe Drynarieae within a very broadly defined family Polypodiaceae sensu lato.
Drynarioideae combines the drynarioid and selligueoid ferns,[3] which have been considered to be tribes (Drynarieae and Selligueeae) when the family Polypodiaceae was very broadly circumscribed.
As of February 2020[update], the Checklist of Ferns and Lycophytes of the World (CFLW) sank Arthromeris, Paraselliguea and Polypodiopteris into a more broadly circumscribed Selliguea.
[4] Plants of the World Online in addition placed the sole species of Gymnogrammitis in Selliguea,[5] and recognized Drynaria rather than Aglaomorpha.
