He won the silver medal at the Americas Cup in 1989, which is when he set the Puerto Rico National Long Jump record.
In 1992 he won the bronze medal in Ibero-American Championships in Athletics in Seville, Spain.
He was inducted into the Puerto Rican Sports Hall of fame in October 2011.
Elmer William has a Master’s Degree Physical Education from Universidad Metropolitana.
Hes also been a Physical Education Professor and the Athletic Director in the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao.
