Elsi Kaarina Katainen (born 17 December 1966) is a Finnish politician and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP).
She is a member of the Centre Party, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.
[3] She is also a member of the European Parliament Intergroup on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development[4] and the MEPs Against Cancer group.
[5] As rapporteur for an opinion on Horizon Europe in the non-lead committee on agriculture, Katainen advocated for a mission "Carbon neutral, resilient, nutritious and zero-waste food systems by 2035", for basic research in the open science pillar and for the role of forestry in a bio-circular economy.
