Emelie C. S. Chilton (1838–1864) was a 19th-century American author of poetry and short stories, as well as the editor of a temperance periodical.
[2] After the mother's death, Emelie was left to the sole care of her father, with whom she lived at Galena, Illinois during the first years of her school life.
[1] Soon after finishing her education, she visited her relatives in Nashville, Tennessee, and there made the acquaintance and afterward married James A.
Since she became a resident of Nashville, she was a regular contributor to several of the journals and periodicals of that city and elsewhere.
[1] Emelie Chilton died in Nashville, March 3, 1864, of consumption, aged 26 years.
