Ennio Candotti

Ennio Candotti (12 February 1942 – 6 December 2023) was a Brazilian physicist and scientific leader.

From 1974 to 1995, Candotti was a professor with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Candotti was four times president of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência), the major scientific association in the country, and editor of Ciência Hoje, its scientific popularization magazine.

For his activities in this area, he has received the 1999 Kalinga Prize conceded by UNESCO.

He was also the president of the International Union for Science Communicators, created in 2002 in Mumbai, India.
