Ergisch

Ergisch is a municipality in the district of Leuk in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

[3] Ergisch has an area, as of 2011[update], of 29.8 square kilometers (11.5 sq mi).

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Per fess Azure three Mullets of Six Argent one and two and Gules a Fleur-de-lis and a Double Cross of the second.

[4] The historical population is given in the following chart:[3][11] In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the CVP which received 65.05% of the vote.

In the federal election, a total of 121 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 79.6%.

[13] In the 2007 Swiss Council of States election a total of 121 votes were cast, of which 7 or about 5.8% were invalid.

[4] There were 77 residents of the municipality who were employed in some capacity, of which females made up 41.6% of the workforce.

In the tertiary sector; 2 or 25.0% were in wholesale or retail sales or the repair of motor vehicles, 4 or 50.0% were in a hotel or restaurant, 1 was in education.

[4] From the 2000 census[update], 163 or 92.6% were Roman Catholic, while 8 or 4.5% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church.

Of the rest of the population, there was 1 individual who belongs to the Christian Catholic Church.
