Evelyn Mary "Eve" Palmer (20 February 1916 – 1998) was a South African writer and botanist.
She then edited the earliest issues of the Veldtrust, a conservationist magazine and the official publication of the National Veld Trust.
[2] After the war Palmer met fellow journalist and future novelist Geoffrey Jenkins when they both reported for The Rhodesia Herald.
The book traces the region's history from "dinosaurs and early hominids to trekkers and sheep farmers",[8] It is also "an account of her life at Cranemere, the Palmer family's vast ranch in a South African desert, and the struggle to tame the land.
"[2] Journalist Justin Fox describes the book as "an evocative piece of writing that captures the essence of the Camdeboo.
