The Fanfare du 27e Bataillon de Chasseurs Alpin is a military band unit of the French Army.
The Alphorn is the ancestor of the big family of musical horns and historically has been used by sheepherders to aide in herd recall in the French Alps.
In many cases, the participation in events mostly revolves around parades and ceremonies as there are not many military tattoo in France.
[6] Outside of the French Republic, the band takes part in military tattoos around the world, mainly travelling to countries within the European Union and NATO.
[7] When Chasseurs Alpins are marching with the band and horns, the marching pace is 140 steps a minute – faster than most other armed forces units, with the exception of the Italian Bersaglieri, whose pace, as well as of its bands, is 180 steps per minute in double time.
