Fatih Karahan (born 1982) is a Turkish economist who has served as Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey since 3 February 2024.
After earning his PhD, Karahan started his professional career as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
[1] Prior to his appointment to the Central Bank, Karahan was reportedly considered for a deputy ministerial position under Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek.
[1][3] Following his appointment, Bloomberg News reported that analysts from JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley anticipate that Karahan will take a more hawkish approach than his predecessor.
