The daughter of a prince from the north of the country, she succeeded in earning her teaching diploma in 1963 and thereafter participated in international conventions on education.
[1] As an educator, she was active in the north covering the region between Nosy Be and Sambava.
Recognized as an effective orator and successful negotiator, she became a supporter of Philibert Tsiranana.
On 5 September 1966, she became the first women to be elected to the Senate, representing the Social Democratic Party.
In her honour, a street in Antsiranana was renamed Avenue Princesse Fatima Achimo the following October.
