Florence "Feenie" Ziner (March 22, 1921 — December 13, 2012) was an American author and educator specializing in children's literature.
She taught English literature and creative writing at the University of Connecticut for 20 years before retiring in 1994.
The couple moved to Chicago immediately following World War II, where Ziner worked several years as a psychiatric social worker.
[2][1] She left her social work career to try her hand at writing, publishing her first book for children in 1956.
Offered a temporary job teaching in the Department of English at the University of Connecticut in Storrs in 1974, Ziner accepted the position and ended up staying for 20 years, retiring as a professor emerita in 1994.
