Franches-Montagnes District

[1] Franches-Montagnes contains a total of 12 municipalities: The blazon of the district coat of arms is Or, a Roundel Argent bordered Sable and Coupeaux of Six Gules.

[1] Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (8,975 or 91.9%) as their first language, German is the second most common (431 or 4.4%) and Portuguese is the third (91 or 0.9%).

The historical population is given in the following chart:[7][8] In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the SPS which received 33.99% of the vote.

This is followed by three years of obligatory lower Secondary school where the students are separated according to ability and aptitude.
