Platt was a Republican member of the New York State Assembly (Steuben Co., 1st D.) in 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904 and 1905.
In 1922, Platt ran for the Republican nomination for Congress, proposing to hold a popular referendum on the question of prohibition of alcohol.
