The Beaver River flows through the southwest part of the township.
Both lakes are reservoirs originally designed for hydroelectric generation by Minnesota Power and Light.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,156 people, 439 households, and 352 families residing in the township.
There were 583 housing units at an average density of 22.9 per square mile (8.8/km2).
13.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
