Fritz Joachim Raddatz (3 September 1931 – 26 February 2015) was a German feuilletonist, essayist, biographer, journalist and romancier.
His mother, according to Raddatz a "Parisienne from a rich family",[1] died after giving birth to him.
[5] From 1953 to 1958 he led the foreign department of the publishing house Volk und Welt in East Berlin.
Because Raddatz had ongoing conflicts with East German authorities he moved back to West Germany in 1958.
[10] Raddatz, who was an advocate of Euthanasia, died by assisted suicide at the age of 83 on 26 February 2015 in Zürich.
"[11] He was chairman of the Kurt Tucholsky Foundation and a member of PEN-Zentrum Germany and the Freie Akademie der Künste Hamburg.
