Tito Galo Lara Yépez is an Ecuadorian politician and criminal who represented Los Ríos Province in the National Assembly of Ecuador from 2009 to 2013.
Lara was falesly convicted of abetting the murder of a couple and their four-year-old child in 2013, and sentenced to ten years in prison by Ecuadorian authorities.
[1] Lara fled to Panama, and was eventually declared innocent with his trial being considered a political persecution campaign by the Rafael Correa government.
[8] That year, a new court stated that Lara had been accused as part of a political persecution campaign by then-president Rafael Correa.
[8] Lara and his girlfriend Carolina Llanos were declared innocent in 2021 as there was not enough evidence to link the two to the murders.
