It is located at Kenyase in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
It was established in 2001[1][2] as the College of Information Technology and Management Systems.
[3] It started running degree programs in October 2005 with a first cihort of 27 students, which has grown to about 6,000 students in various disciplines.
On 19 December 2024, it received the Presidential Charter from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to operate as an independent university to award its own degrees internally.
