Gassendiceras is an extinct genus of ammonoid cephalopods belonging to the family Hemihoplitidae.
They lived in the Cretaceous period, Barremian age.
[1] The genus name Gassendiceras honors the French philosopher and scientist Pierre Gassendi (1592 – 1655).
[1] Shells of Gassendiceras species can reach a diameter of about 300 millimetres (12 in).
[1] Fossils of species within this genus have been found in the Cretaceous rocks of southeastern France.
