Guadalupe Loaeza

María Guadalupe Loaeza Tovar (born August 12, 1946[1]) is a contemporary Mexican writer, author of many books including Las Niñas Bien, Las Reinas de Polanco, Debo, Luego Sufro and Compro, Luego Existo, in which she ironizes about the Mexican upper class.

Known for her trademark pearl necklace (a family heirloom) and for her francophile tendencies, she has become an influential cultural figure.

Some of her books are compilations of her articles published in newspapers such as Unomásuno and La Jornada.

In 2003, Guadalupe Loaeza received the distinction of Chevalier from the Légion d'Honneur of France.
