He was killed at the age of 75 while fighting in Husayn's army in Karbala.
[1] Habib ibn Muzahir was a soldier in the Battle of Karbala, where he fought alongside Husayn ibn Ali, the third Shia Imam, against the forces of Yazid, led by Umar ibn Sa'd.
[2] His tomb is located within the Imam Husayn Shrine in the southern porch.
[3][4][5] According to history, Habib fought and killed 62 enemy soldiers before being attacked by Budayl b. Maryam 'Aqfani, who struck him on the head with a sword.
Another enemy then hit him with a spear, causing him to fall from his horse, after which Budayl b. Maryam beheaded him.
