Hampden Sydney is a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince Edward County, Virginia, United States.

[1] According to the United States Census Bureau, in 2000 the CDP had a total area of 4.4 square miles (11.6 km2), all of it land.

[1] As of the census[2] of 2010, there were 1,450 people, 172 households, and 108 families residing in the CDP.

The racial makeup of the CDP was 85.4% White, 11.7% African American, 0.8% Asian, and 1.0% from two or more races.

[2] Demographics from the 2010 census are skewed by students attending the all-male, Hampden–Sydney College with an undergrad population of 1090.
