Hartmann (crater)

Hartmann is a lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon.

The unusual placement of this crater and the proximity of Green have given Hartmann a somewhat oddly shaped outer rim.

The rim is slightly oblong in shape and it has an outward bulge to the east.

The crater was named after German astronomer Johannes Franz Hartmann in 1970.

[2] By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Hartmann.
