Heinz Friedrich Ruppert Riesenhuber (born 1 December 1935) is a German politician (CDU) who served as Minister of Scientific Research under Chancellor Helmut Kohl from 1982 to 1993.
[2] Since 1995 he is honorary professor at the University of Frankfurt and president of the German Parliamentary Union (Deutsche Parlamentarischen Gesellschaft) since 2006.
Riesenhuber is a member of several governing boards and advisory committees of German and foreign companies and institutes.

In his political campaigns for the Bundestag he used a poster showing only a bow tie in the national colours of Germany: Black, red and gold.
