Horst R. Schmidt

Horst Rudolf Schmidt (born 19 November 1941) is a German football official.

At the 1972 Summer Olympics[1] and at the 1974 FIFA World Cup, Schmidt was a member of the organizing committee.

From January 2001 to the summer of 2006, Schmidt was the vice president of the Organizing Committee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

He was adviser to the organizing committee of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

[4] In this context, the Switzerland's attorney general's office opened criminal proceedings against Schmidt for alleged money laundering and breach of trust, since dubious international money transfers were thought to have been made through Swiss accounts.
