[1] Introduced as a special series during the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, the series aired several feature documentary films that had been scheduled to premiere at the 2020 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival before its postponement.

During the same period, the Documentary Channel also aired a number of older documentary films which were screened at past editions of the Hot Docs festival.

[3] Several of the films broadcast on the series received Canadian Screen Award nominations in television documentary categories at the 9th Canadian Screen Awards in 2021,[4] with 9/11 Kids winning the Donald Brittain Award for best social or political documentary.
