Hownam

Hownam or Hounam[1] is a small village and parish situated 8 miles east of Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, near the Anglo-Scottish border, in the former Roxburghshire.

Hownam lies south of Morebattle on the Kale Water.

[2] Hownam first appears in the written charters in the 12th century.

[2] The village itself is a small group of houses in a row on one side of the road.

[3] Local nurseryman George Taylor was born at Hounam Grange in 1803.
