Imsland

The municipality existed for 42 years before it was dissolved in a merger brought upon by the recommendations of the Schei Committee.

On 1 January 1965, the part of Imsland located south of the Vindafjorden (population: 61) was merged into the neighboring Suldal municipality.

It is likely that the river name comes from the genitive case of the word olmr which means "fierce" or "angry".

The mayor was indirectly elected by a vote of the municipal council.
