On 6 October 2007, the General Assembly of the UIAA approved the new statutes, where the position of "unit member" was created.
The Constitutional Assembly of the ISMF members held on 27 February 2008 in Champéry, Portes du Soleil (Switzerland), decided to continue to administer Ski mountaineering competitions as an International Federation with its own legal entity.
Today the ISMF is a non-profit association with the legal headquarters in Lausanne and the administrative office in Mondovì (Italy).
The organisational structure of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation consists of a Bureau, which includes the President, the Secretary General and three representatives of the main macro areas (Sport, Marketing and Communication, Finance), one of whom also covers the role of Vice-President.
Categories: In March 2022, due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the ISMF banned the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in international competitions; it also canceled all events planned to take place in Russia.
