Ioannis Kigalas (Greek: Ιωάννης Κιγάλας,[1] Italian: Giovanni Cigala, Cicala,[2] Latin: Joannes Cigala, c. 1622 – c. 5 November 1687)[3] was a Greek Cypriot[4] scholar and professor of Philosophy and Logic[5] who was largely active in Padua and Venice in the 17th-century Italian Renaissance.
Ioannis Kigalas was a Greek[4] born in the city of Nicosia on the island of Cyprus, then in the Ottoman Empire in 1622.
In 1642 he graduated as Doctor of Philosophy and Theology and was employed as a teacher of the Greek language from 1642 to 1650.
He later moved to Padova where in 1666 he was appointed Professor of Philosophy and Logic at the University.
