Acanthopthalmus javanicus Pangio javanicus The Java loach (Pangio oblonga) is a species of tropical freshwater fish, an unbanded kuhli loach, native to the sandy streams of Southeast Asia.
The java loach, like its fellow Pangio species, has a long eel-like body with small eyes set high in the skull.
Due to the large range of the java loach, coloration varies between populations.
Java loaches grow to 3 inches (8 cm) and readily scavenge bits of food from soft substrate.
Sexual dimorphism is not readily apparent, although females carrying eggs will appear fatter.
