He is currently under investigation by both civil and church authorities for sexual abuse of an adult woman in the 1980s; he has admitted his behavior was inappropriate and expressed regret.

He made his solemn vows as a Franciscan on 15 September 1968 and was ordained a priest on 28 June 1969.

[5] On 16 November 2022, Grallet published a statement admitting that at the end of the 1980s, he had made "inappropriate gestures" (gestes déplacés) towards a young adult woman and that he deeply regretted his actions.

[6] According to his successor, Luc Ravel, the events occurred in the fall of 1985 and were brought to his attention by the victim in December 2021 and he reported them to the Strasbourg public prosecutor in January 2022.
