Jiří Velemínský

Jiří Velemínský (21 November 1933, in České Budějovice – 23 February 2008, in Prague) was a pioneering Czech plant geneticist.

[3] He was a member of editorial boards of several scientific journals, including Biologia Plantarum.

[5] In 2007 he received the Honorary Medal of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, De Scientia Et Humanitate Optime Meritis.

[2] Jiří Velemínský was a distant cousin of the physician and scientist Friedrich Weleminsky.

He lived in Prague with his wife Dagmar (Daca; née Koflak), whom he married in 1961.
