João Lyra

João José Pereira de Lyra (17 June 1931 – 12 August 2021)[1] was a Brazilian businessman and politician.

[2] His wealth was once estimated at $140 million, making him at one point Brazil's richest Member of Parliament.

He was named in the 2016 Panama Papers leak.

[3] Lyra died from complications of pneumonia and bronchoaspiration in August 2021, following a battle with COVID-19.
