He had been running for the United States House of Representatives in the 2014 elections, challenging incumbent Scott DesJarlais in Tennessee's 4th congressional district.

He ran for the United States House of Representatives in the 2016 elections, challenging incumbent Diane Black in Tennessee's 6th congressional district.
