John Mordecai Gottman (born April 26, 1942) is an American psychologist and professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Washington.

Together, they are the co-founders of Affective Software Inc., a program seeking to make marriage and relationship counseling procedures more accessible to a broader audience.

Gottman practices Conservative Judaism, keeps kosher (follows Jewish dietary laws) and observes Shabbat.

Since 2002, Gottman has worked as the emeritus Professor of Psychology for the University of Washington and as the executive director for the Relationship Research Institute in Seattle.
