Jon Godfread

[4] After taking a redshirt for Utah in his freshman year,[5] he decided to transfer to the University of Northern Iowa.

After his college basketball career, Godfread played professionally in Germany for the Ehingen Urspring of ProA for one season.

[2][9] Godfread returned to the United States and enrolled at the University of North Dakota, where he graduated with a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor in 2011.

[2] He worked for Alerus Financial and served as vice president for the Greater North Dakota Chamber.

[2] As Insurance Commissioner, Godfread supported Wayne Stenehjem's decision to join California v. Texas, opposing the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act.
