Joseph Tkach Jr. is an American minister and formerly president of Grace Communion International, an evangelical Protestant denomination based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Once a strict seventh-day Sabbatarian organization that denied the Trinity, required observance of Old Testament law and adhered to Anglo-Israelism, the church has abandoned those and other teachings in favor of a doctrine of salvation by grace through faith.
He received a master's degree in business administration from Western International University in Phoenix, in 1984.
When the elder Tkach became ill in 1995 with cancer, he appointed his son to succeed him as denominational president in the event of his death, which occurred that September at age 68.
In April 2009, Tkach Jr. announced the organization would be changing its name to Grace Communion International from Worldwide Church of God.
