Jules Sedney Harbour is the main seaport for cargo ships in Paramaribo, Suriname.
The Suriname River near the village of Paramaribo was more than one kilometre wide, and Waterkant, the water side, became the main harbour for the colony.
On 5 June 1960, a terrain of 12.35 hectares (30.5 acres) was purchased by the government for the construction of a new harbour.
