The station is owned by KZFX, LLC, and broadcasts a classic rock format.

The station was first signed on in July 2012 as KKYT and aired a country music format branded "The Coyote".

KZFX was the first radio stations in the High Desert to stream its primary signal on the internet using Winamp in the fall of 2012.

The station airs live local, reginal and national news, live weather, NASCAR reports, specialty shows such as Spaced Out Radio with Dave Scott, Breakfast with the Beatles and Floydian Slip.
