Kavimani Desigavinayagam Pillai

One of his most enduringly popular works is the children’s song Thottaththin Meiyudha Vellai Pasu (The White Cow Grazing in the Garden).

[1][2] Pillai adapted Edwin Arnold's Light of Asia into Tamil under the title ஆசிய ஜோதி (Asiya Jyothi).

Kavimani was an active researcher, contributing significantly to Tamil literature and historical studies.

[4] In 1943, he was honored with a golden shawl by Annamalai Raja of Chettinad, though he refused monetary gifts.

A memorial was established in Theroor in 1954, and in October 2005, the Government of India issued a commemorative postage stamp in his honor.
