Khomutovsky District (Russian: Хомуто́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the twenty-eight in Kursk Oblast, Russia.
The area of the district is 1,194 square kilometers (461 sq mi).
[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Khomutovka.
[7] Khomutovsky District is located in the west of Kursk Oblast, on the border with Ukraine.
The terrain is hilly plain averaging 200 meters above sea level; the district lies on the Orel-Kursk plateau of the Central Russian Upland.
