The building was mostly influenced by the Tudor architectural style in red brick with stone dressings, and had accommodation for 500 paupers.
[2] The front of the building (facing Beverley Road) was 220 feet (67 m) and was particularly ornamented.
[4] The workhouse joined the National Health Service with 310 beds as Kingston General Hospital in 1948.
[6] The front range of the workhouse was demolished to make way for a day hospital in the 1970s.
[7] The hospital closed in 2000[8] and the rest of the building was demolished to allow the construction of Endeavour High School in 2001.
