Kintire Township was organized in 1880, and named after Kintyre, in Scotland.

There were 85 housing units at an average density of 2.4 per square mile (0.93/km2).

19.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

About 4.9% of families and 8.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those 65 or over.
