As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 3,241 people, 950 households, and 612 families residing in the township.

The racial makeup of the township was 88.43% White, 6.39% African American, 0.22% Native American, 2.07% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.36% from other races, and 1.51% from two or more races.

25.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
