Kolionovo

Kolionovo (Russian: Колио́ново) is a rural locality (a village) in Yegoryevsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia.

[1][2] The village is located at the end of a dead-end road[3] about 125 kilometers (78 mi) away from Moscow.

[4] In the second half of the 18th century, the name distorted into Kalivonovo (Каливоново), then into Kolivonovo (Коливоново), and finally into its present form.

[4] The village gained notoriety in 2010 when resident Mikhail Shlyapnikov fought local turf fires without government assistance.

[6] In 2014, Shlyapnikov created a local currency, a so-called "kolion", as an alternative to the ruble.
