Korha, Katihar

Korha is a town and tehsil (sub-district) in the Katihar district, Bihar state, India.

[1] The village of Korha proper (census code 224355) had 962 households and 4584 inhabitants (including 808 children aged 0–6), and its literacy rate was 69%.

[citation needed] In the partition of India, a majority of the Muslims who lived in the area chose to remain, while many Hindus who came from Pakistan and Bangladesh settled at Korha.

The Government of India provided the Hindu immigrants with land plots now known as Colonies No.1 and No.2, where they mixed with Bengali Hindus who were already in Korha.
