Kurchatov is a lunar impact crater that is located on the Moon's far side.
A couple of crater diameters to the south of Kurchatov is the northern edge of the Mare Moscoviense.
There is a small, elongated central ridge near the midpoint, and the interior floor is pitted with tiny craterlets.
The trend of the chain points back toward Mare Orientale and it may be secondary craters from that impact.
[3] By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Kurchatov.
